Meet Ozzie!

Ozzie is an 11 month old pup that appears to be a beagle mix. He currently weighs in at 23 pounds. Isn't he adorable? He has black and tan fur, and a tail that is ALWAYS wagging! Ozzie is an energetic little guy, and is looking for a family that can keep up with him! Ozzie has been friendly with everyone that he has met, including all adults and children. We would recommend that Ozzie go to a home with older children, only because he is still learning his manners when it comes to food - if he sees an opportunity, he will not hesitate to take it! This can also be corrected with training! He is also very friendly with all dogs he meets - and would love to have a canine friend in his new family! He has done OK with cats, but does like to try to play with them and chase them. Right now Ozzie is working on house training, crate training, and leash training, and is making good progress for all of them! He uses a doggie door when he needs to use the bathroom, and is still having some accidents, but is on his way there! He is currently being fed in his crate, and sleeps in it overnight as well. He does not know any basic commands yet, but would love to go with you to obedience classes to learn them! We strongly recommend that all of our dogs attend obedience classes, as they give the dog opportunities for confidence building and socialization. You also get to learn the commands with your canine buddy, which is a lot of fun, and will help strengthen the bond between you! Although Ozzie is a high energy pup, he will not require a a fenced in yard, and if that is not an option he will need lots of daily walks and opportunities for off-leash play, like at a dog park. Plus, his favorite way to burn off energy is by playing fetch, which he never grows tired of! He is going to require 2-4 hours of exercise per day, because of his high energy. Dogs of all ages also benefit from mental stimulation - think puzzle toys and games! A tired dog is a good dog! Ozzie is on his way to becoming a well-rounded pup, if you would like to add him to your family apply today!

Ozzie's backstory: Ozzie was surrendered to one of our southern partners when his owner didn't have time for him. He was unsocialized and shy. He is becoming more and more affectionate, likes to be held, and is starting to love attention!

SOS recommends that dogs with a  history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months or until 18 months of age.
